We have

1 LAS, 2 ATL, 3 EWR, 4 PHL, 5 GSO, 6 CLT, 7 SAN, 8 ILM, 9 RDU

Which doesn't seem to combine to anything useful, we looked then at the actually airport names and taking 1st letter, 2nd letter etc of each airport name and ended with LAWLMOGTD. (So wish it was just Lawnmower....) [/spoiler]

Where did it all go wrong?

3 & 4 are swapped.

7 is what you have for 1.

5 is what you have for 9.

8 is correct letter, but wrong code.

1 & 9 are wrong: [spoiler]1 PHX, 9 PCT[/spoiler]

9 is a bit of a stretch, but if you've got the rest, you'd guess this letter anyway.
