There are 35 letters in my book as well.

How does this work for this puzzle? At all?
I would honestly like an answer as to how to get the answer listed above from this string of letters, because unless you have given up on solving these puzzles and are cheating, I can't see any way of reverse engineering it knowing the answer.
I am doing this now because my wife wants to do them and she wants me to be her clue giver, but honestly, there are some amazing puzzles out there, how did these get good reviews?
Update:
Oh - I see, you need to remove the extra letters put in with no hint as to why. Because of course you do.
So with a string of 35 letters and the code 4x7 you are supposed to figure out to put the letters into the grid, excluding the ones you don't because "reasons" and then figure out the answer from that.
I some of these are so badly designed that I massively regret that we got several of these books at the same time because the design is terrible.
